For those who don't suffer from anxiety, it is hard for them to understand exactly what it feels like. Everyone feels a little anxiety at least once in their lifetime, and in some cases anxiety is an appropriate reaction to be feeling. The common feelings of anxiety could be the butterflies you feel in your stomach, or a tightness in your chest. However, for the people who feel anxious all the time with no cause, that's when the anxiety can be come a mental illness. Anxiety disorders are a serious mental illness because it can lead to other illnesses such as depression. Here are some common symptoms people feel when having anxiety:
- Feelings of panic, fear, and uneasiness
- Problems sleeping
- Cold or sweaty hands and/or feet
- Shortness of breath
- Heart palpitations
- An inability to be still and calm
- Dry mouth
- Numbness or tingling in the hands or feet
- Nausea
- Muscle tension
- Dizziness
