Know Someone with an Anxiety Disorder? What You Should Never Say to Them

Anxiety is a normal feeling that everyone feels at some point in their life. Those with an anxiety disorder feel the effects of anxiety on a regular basis and when there is nothing going on that should cause the feelings of anxiety. Having a friend or family member who has an anxiety disorder can sometimes be difficult to be around, because even just saying the wrong thing could make them feel anxious. Jennifer Rollin, a Mental Health Therapist and contributor writer for the Huffington Post, says there are four main things you should never say to someone who has an anxiety disorder. 

  1. You need to just calm down 
  2. What your worrying about is really not a big deal 
  3. I know how you feel 
  4. You're right, that could happen
