Underage drinking is becoming a bigger problem in the United States, more and more each day. According to a study, 13% of boys and 8% of girls have their first drink by the age of 13. Teenagers may turn to alcohol for various reasons such as: boredom, coping mechanism for stress and depression. One thing parents can do to help prevent underage drinking is to keep an eye out for the triggers. Some of the triggers may be:
- Stress, Anxiety or Depression
- The teen complains about being bored
- The teen starts exhibiting signs of rebellion and anger
- The teen lacks confidence
- Mood Swings
- School Problems
- Switching Friends
