Study Shows Childhood Emotional Abuse Leads to Adult Alcohol Dependency

Many adult Americans struggle with alcohol dependency. When those who suffer from alcohol dependency get treatment, the first thing to do is figure out what the root cause of the problem is. This new study that was performed found that in some people, childhood emotional abuse can lead to alcohol dependency later on in life. The involved a "drinking group" and a "non-drinking group." Over half of the "drinking group" said that they had experienced emotional abuse during their childhood. Only 7.3 percent of the "non-drinking group" said they experienced childhood emotional abuse.
